Why haven't you guys had kids?

This question is always asked to my husband and I ever since we got married. I even believe that some people thought that my husband and I got married only because we were expecting. Clearly, that assumption wasn't the case.

I honestly think that question should be asked probably once and that's about it since there are women that can't have children.

Any who, my husband and I haven't had children yet because we have goals we want to reach before having kids. We haven't made it to our dream careers just yet and we also haven't finished school either. Another huge component is that we don't own a home yet. We also aren't financially where we want to be. Speaking in terms, I would want to be able to buy my child anything or everything they would want or need without going into debt.

Ultimately, I'm still in the phase of loving my own personal space and time. For instance, I can wake up at whatever time I want without having to be on a schedule. Plus, my husband and I haven't been able to travel to our bucket list places either because of school and work. We also want to be fully prepared (Yes, I know we will never be fully prepared to have kids, but I want to be as close as prepared as I can!).

Another huge consideration is that we still want to enjoy our company together. We still love to go on dates, spend time with each other, travel, have game nights with our game consoles, have get togethers and parties, spend time with friends and go out with them, and the list goes on. You can even say we are somewhat selfish, but we just aren't ready.

One day we will be ready and I can't wait to have children of our own one day. Please don't make fun or insult those women that are like me. We want to make sure it's the right time and are able to provide for our kids whenever the time is right for us.

So again, whenever the question presents itself. Just know we aren't ready to have children, but we will be soon and very soon at that!
