Do you recall the events that took place on this day 19 years ago? What were you doing on this day?

This day was very hazy since I was so young. All I remember was my mother dropping me off at daycare around 6:30 am like she normally did every day. Then I ate breakfast, started playing around with the other kids until we hear our teachers and director start freaking out about something on the radio and TV. I couldn't remember much, but all I know is that my mother came to pick me up immediately. On the way home, my mom wasn't saying much and all I could remember was that she was very distraught and worrisome, We arrive at home and she instantly turns on the TV. I was surrounded by our family and we all were sitting around the TV.

That's when it hit me. Two buildings were being hit by airplanes.... The Twin Towers were under attack and these terrorists were using planes to carry out their mission. I believe the goal was to kill as many Americans as they could because that's what everyone under attack was.... AMERICAN. We didn't say which lives mattered more. We didn't address black lives or white lives on this day. We addressed AMERICANS LIVES MATTER,

We united as a country 19 years ago. America was so powerful. It felt like everyone was united as brothers and sisters. We helped one another, because we ALL were under attack, not just some of us. We were trying to prepare for another attack since so many things were occurring during this time.

I remember my mother telling me to be careful whenever she would drop me off at school since the whole country was on edge about another attack. I also remember our President George Bush making tons of speeches of how America would overcome this tragedy. The weeks and months that would come were just so fearful. I would get scared getting on a plane to travel and honestly didn't even want to get on the plane. My anxiety was all the way up every single time I would turn on the news with my mom.

What do you remember from this day? Were you there? Close by? Were any of your family members the brave ones on the plane or in the Twin Towers?

I believe everyone that day was so brave and a hero. I will never forget what happened on this day and I hope you don't either.
